Calvin Chong

Calvin Chong is a hip-hop dancer that has been performing for the past 18 years, both locally and internationally.

His dancing technique emphasizes boogaloo funk dance. Boogaloo is a freestyle, improvisational street dance movement comprised of soulful steps and robotic movements that form the foundations of popping dance and may include illusions, muscle restriction, pauses, robot, and/or wiggling. He has won first place in several dance competitions in Brunei, where he has competed with his dance crew. He had been selected as the dance choreographer of Brunei’s Basketball Cheering Squad to perform on the court and was featured on ESPN’s national television broadcast in 2010.

In his class, he enjoys educating students on the concept of hip-hop dance, the significance of building stamina and strength, demonstrating attitude, and expressing the appropriate emotions. The dancers benefit from his incorporation of games that develop strength and speed into his lessons.

Ultimately, he wants all of his students to enjoy dancing while they are learning.
