MUSIC FOR KIDS CLASS

A learning program using the Orff learning approach suitable for children age 3 to 5. The Orff Method is an approach to music education conceived by the German composer, Carl Orff (1895-1982). It is a way of introducing and teaching children about music on a level that they can easily comprehend by engaging their mind and body through a mixture of singing, dancing, acting and the use of percussion instruments such as xylophones, castanets, bells, gongs, tambourines and conga drums.

There is no standardized Orff curriculum. Teachers design their own lesson plans and adapt it to suit the size of the class and the age of the students.

Lessons are presented with an element of “play”. Program includes musical activities, introduction to rhythm and notation and using percussion to make music. Using the Orff approach, the musical activities will stimulate and help students learn key concepts about rhythm, melody, harmony, texture, form and other elements of music. Students learn these concepts by speaking, singing, dancing, movement, acting and playing instruments.

The objectives of the course are:

·         To explore the world of music through fun and play

·         To develop sense of rhythm

·         To develop perceptive listening skills

·         To develop musical creativity

·         To develop social skills and self-esteem through group interaction

·         To build foundation of all subsequent musical learning

Music for Kids class is conducted in a small class size (6 to 8) to ensure your child gets maximum attention from the teacher. Our teachers are specially selected for their warmth, enthusiasm and ability to relate to children. Very soon your child will be playing and enjoying all kinds of music.
