Why Here

Why learn violin at our Jurong West studio?

📏

Sized-to-fit start

Beginners learn on 1/16 to 1/2 size violins matched to their arm length — comfort first, because a struggling grip becomes a struggling tone.

👂

Intonation built early

Violin has no frets or keys: pitch lives in the ear. Aural training is woven into every lesson from week one, which later pays off in ABRSM aural marks.

🎻

Ensemble & recital time

Students perform at recitals through the year — bow control under pressure is a skill you practise, not hope for.

The Journey

How do violin lessons progress?

Violin follows the ABRSM strings pathway — posture and intonation first, then graded repertoire to Grade 8. Our ABRSM Singapore guide explains the grade ladder and the Grade 5 Theory rule.

  1. Foundations. Posture, bow hold, open strings and first finger patterns on a correctly sized instrument.
  2. Initial–Grade 2. First ABRSM exams with simple repertoire, scales and aural — entered when ready, not by the calendar.
  3. Grades 3–5. Shifting, vibrato foundations and richer repertoire; Music Theory runs in parallel toward the Grade 5 gateway.
  4. Grades 6–8. Advanced positions, expressive interpretation and mock exams to full ABRSM standard.
